Privacy Statement
The following privacy statement applies to members of the QNCH Board of Directors, contracted staff, volunteers, and to members of committees authorized by the Board. References in the policy to Board members, Directors, QNCH and the Co-operative are intended to also apply to all contracted staff, volunteers, and members of committees.
Purpose of Statement
Queens Neighbourhood Co-operative Housing (QNCH) respects the privacy of applicants, members, and volunteers. Personal information will be protected, and all legislative requirements will be adhered to with respect to protecting privacy. The contact information provided will be used to keep relevant persons informed and up to date on the activities of QNCH, including housing, special events, funding, opportunities to volunteer, open houses, and other periodic contacts. If at any time you an individual wishes to be removed from any of these contacts, inform QNCH via email at privacy@qnch.ca and the request will be accommodated.

Our Commitment
QNCH is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of its board, committee members, contracted staff, members/residents, volunteers, and other stakeholders. QNCH recognizes that maintaining trust requires that QNCH be transparent and accountable in how information shared is treated.
During a project’s development and the co-ops operations, QNCH frequently gathers and utilizes personal information. Anyone from whom information is collected should expect that it will be carefully protected and that any use or other dealing with this information is subject to consent. QNCH’s privacy practices are designed to achieve this.
Defining Personal Information
Personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify, or contact a specific individual. This information can include an individual’s opinions or beliefs, as well as facts about, or related to, the individual. Exceptions: business contact information and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers as published in telephone directories and/or social media, are not considered personal information.
Where an individual uses home contact information as business contact information as well, QNCH considers that the contact information provided is business contact information and is not therefore subject to protection as personal information.
Privacy Practices
Personal information gathered by QNCH is kept in confidence. The Board, committee members, and contracted staff are authorized to access personal information based only on their need to deal with the information for the reason/s for which it was obtained. Safeguards are in place to ensure that the information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was gathered. QNCH also takes measures to ensure the integrity of this information is maintained and to prevent its being lost and/or destroyed.
